I have decided to move from pc to iMac - either 2.0ghz or 2.16ghz.

(1) Should I wait for Leopard ?
(2) What if any customized configurations would you recommend ?

My primary uses are word processing, web surfing, and photos . (I will continue to shoot film as long as they make it :). So, I also will need to purchase a scanner.)

Your recommendations are welcomed. Thanks in advance.

2.0ghz or 2.16ghz.

I doubt you'd notice a difference, I'd say the 2.0GHz would be fine.

(1) Should I wait for Leopard ?

You can buy Leopard when it comes out, you don't have to wait for it.

(2) What if any customized configurations would you recommend ?

You'd probably be fine with a stock 17". (The higher end 17", not the one with the combo drive, that one is not very good bang for your buck.)

Take this in to consideration:

Product iMac
Recommendation: Don't Buy - Updates soon
Last Release September 06, 2006
Days Since Update 305 (Avg = 168)

If your able to wait a few weeks for it then i would because there should be a new one along with a lot more bang for your buck!

Buying Tips

iBookG4user and Stetwin,

Thank you for the replies and the good advice. I will wait for the new imacs models. Hopefully, they will arrive by September.

even if the new iMacs come out in September, I suggest you wait for leopard to be released, (October) because if you buy the iMac before, you will have to sped an extra $130 to upgrade to leopard, but if you wait, it comes included,

also, I suggest you upgrade the ram to 2gb, or 3gb.. the standard 1gb that it comes with, might be enough for a while, but I am sure you will want to upgrade it sooner or later. Look at frys.com for some cheap ram, I found a 2gb (2 x 1gb) set, for only $59.99, which is an awesome price compared to how much apple charges to upgrade it.
