No offense, but the nexus one can already do everything that is in that clip. Actually that isn't showcasing anything new considering that UI is exactly the same as the nexus one since 2.0, do some research before posting useless dribble.

right, im aware, as that video is showing it being used on a nexus one. what im saying is that they will be taking cues from the photo gallery UI and encompassing it through its entire UI.

then how come the Droid Incredible and Droid Eris are both made by HTC?

Droid is simply Android phones marketed by Verizon

Actually droid is trademarked by Lucasfilm if you can believe that. It's actually at the bottom of every droid commercial. Damn Lucas keeps the rights to everthing. He's the Apple of movies.

ah. thanks for the correction.

Taken from Wikipedia
The term "Droid" has been licensed by Verizon Wireless for their line of smartphones based on the Android operating system. Motorola's late-2009 Google Android-based cell phone is called the Droid. This line of phone has been expanded to include other Android-based phones released under Verizon, including the HTC Droid Eris, the HTC Droid Incredible and the newly announced Motorola Droid X[6] and Motorola Droid X[7].The term is used under license from Lucasfilm

You may have meant that, but that is not what you stated. Also you show no proof to back up your claims. Any phone, in the current state of technology, released with a dual core 2 ghz processor will probably have its battery die within 4 hours of time without use. Once again you should do some research before spouting off claims, with no evidence to back you up. If I decided to go on an android forum and announce that I'm ditching my evo for the next iphone which I know for a fact will have a 3 ghz processor, gets charged by the sun, and can do some "cool UI effects", I'd be considered a troll. What your doing is basically the same. In my opinion you do what is necessary for your life, if you want to switch to android, go ahead that sounds great. But it's not necessary to announce it in a primarily iphone forum. Go do that at phandroid or one of the other numerous android specific sites.

Clearly you have not read any of my posts on this thread thus far. I have enumerated many times that battery life would be an issue for higher-spec'ed phones. I also noted that it will not solely be 2ghz, but rather, imo, in a range between 1.2ghz - 1.5 ghz with respect to phones that will be released in Q4.

By all means, go on an android forum site and talk about 3ghz/charging by Sun, they will laugh at you, not consider you as a troll. The specs I am mentioning are available now and yes, there is no doubt that the next generation of phones will be based on ARM Cortex-A9 processors. You do realize that all iphones, since the 1st generation, have had ARM processors in them, right? I think its about time you do some research...

I also mentioned in my OP whether all high-speced phones are even that necessary when the app marketplace for android is nascent compared to that of the Apple app store.

I never stated that arm a9 processors weren't available, nor did I say that they weren't in iphones....My point was they would not be able to be optimized correctly to run on current tech, and I used a silly example to prove my point. You still have not proved nor have you showed evidence of any of the information you posted. Sure this type of phone probably will be seen in the future, but what I'm asking you is how do you know, and why are you pointing it out on an iphone forum?

Hmm If your so worried about it being outdated, why would you go android? There is a new android phone out every month.

I think you're going to have to read the OP again, because I clearly mention that the ARM Cortex-A9 processor will be in the next batch of phones in November/December time period, not with 'current tech' as you deem it.

In terms of specific evidence, you can easily hop onto any gadget site and they will be discussing what the next batch of phones will look like spec-wise, and yes, a lot of them are talking ARM Cortex A9.

In terms of evidence, its a given. Its like seeing someone doubt that the next batch of PC's won't have intel or AMD chips in them.

Why am I pointing it out in an iPhone forum? It IS quite possible that people that browse through this forum are prospective purchasers of the iPhone. I do that all the time before I purchase something of value. I look at said product's forum to check out the issues. I'm merely showcasing what will be available down the road.

Look, I'm not an apple hater. I'm an owner of an iPad, ipt2g, and nano. I'm still amazed at the iPad's ability to hold 12 hours of battery life for a 10 inch IPS display. It still boggles my mind after purchasing on launch date.

Hmm If your so worried about it being outdated, why would you go android? There is a new android phone out every month.

Sure, theres androids released plenty, but we all have to remember that android is across all 4 carriers, not one. Additionally, even though new androids are released quiet often, they basically have similar specs (some are underclocked).

Hopefully when the holiday season comes, there will be fresh batches of phones that will have ARM's next generation processor. Oh and btw, LTE is not too far away for Big Red and AT&T.

I think we all know the iPhone 4 is the best smartphone out there. for now..

...but within a few months, the iPhone4 will be obsolete, and there will not be a refresh until June 2011.

I will personally go Android 3.x, as it is confirmed it will have a revamped UI as seen in this clip, and the phones coming with Android 3.x will sport 1.2 - 2 Ghz dual core processor. Add Tegra2 chipset and you're going to see a huge upgrade in GPU performance, as shown here.

I'm not trying to bait/troll, I'm just pointing out what the future of smartphones will look in the near-future.

only caveat i would assume is, whats the point of a high-spec'ed phone if the apps (google marketplace) are crap? this here, apple has the edge in my opinion.
You'll have Android 3, any phone with a dual core processor, particularly at those clock speeds is going to kill its battery. I'd have to say the same about the Tegra 2. iPhone dominates, particularly the iPhone 4.

Look, I'm not an apple hater.

Fair enough. You're not an Apple hater. You just prefer an Android. So why don't you go to an Android forum and talk about your desire for an Android THERE rather than talk smack and stir up trouble here? You don't see me going to the Android forums and talking about the iPhone.

Doing what you did by starting this topic is called TROLLING.

looks as though you didn't read the OP, but none of my posts on this thread has complained about the quality of the iPhone4. in fact, I have stated that in my OP that its currently the best smartphone out there. i wonder how many others will write statements like this without actually reading the OP...
