Of all the C2D's I've seen, they all seem to have the backlight bleeding problem. Price you pay for a brighter screen I suppose! :)

I took some pictures using my cell phone the gap near the magnetic release hatch. I don't know if you can see it but the aluminium above the release button sticks out more than it should. I am going to talk to Apple on Monday above getting a replacement. I absolutly love Apple and there products, however, after having spent 2500+ on one of there machines, I find it unacceptable for the to have flaws in the casing. I bought a Gateway laptop... a true piece of ****.. for about 700.. and it had not imperfections...

That is EXACTLY what happened to my MBP (of which I returned last week). I'm waiting for my new MBP that should be shipped before the 20th, very dissapointed but I'll survive. I'm a perfectionist so I needed to do this.

To those whose MBP has the bulge or gag near the DVD slot area, can you comment if the DVD (DL Super Drive) operates without problem or without excessive noise? I posted another thread a day or so ago about the noisy in-and-out process of DL SuperDirve on my 15" C2D MBP. My MBP does not show such a cosmetic imperfection; but it does make louder noise when the disk is being sucked in or getting ejected than my PBs/iBook.

A simple fix.

There is a plastic clip right where the gap is. So I am guessing it didn't clip on properly. Simple fix is to push it very hard until you hear a click. Don't be nervous to use a bit of pressure as the clips can't break from doing this.

Yes!

then push on the plastic clasps HARD enough to clip back together.
Super cool.

I'm more concerned about pushing down too hard and bending the dvd slot hole.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I tried pushing down to close the gap, but ended up doing exactly what you mentioned and bent the DVD slot hole itself.

I couldn't get a DVD to eject without sticking a screwdriver in the slot and bending it back upwards.
