Have USB-C cable (3.2) between the new Air and current 16 Pro.

When I go transfer, it says it will use cellular (won't work where I am at).

Don't want to use wireless at work as our network has restrictions using WiFi.

I can connect both phones to hardline on an ethernet port which is unrestricted.

Right now I can't do either - phone to phone via USB-C cable nor Ethernet on both phones.

Help ?

I don’t know. But the peak USB-2 speed is 480 Mbps. Given many backups are GB in size, this would take a long time to transfer at that speed. So Apple probably disables the feature outright on a USB-2 device to avoid people complaining about slow transfer speeds.

I remember USB transfers working via USB-Lightning cables. Those are definitely USB2 speeds.

Besides, 480 Mbps might be faster than many people's internet speed.

Try the traditional way, by backing up your 16 Pro on iTunes via Mac or windows, and then restore it back to the Air.
