I re did the test over and over again. Sometimes quiting black magic app and restarting sometimes not. Each time with caffeine running my write speeds were in the mid 600s and with caffeine off they would go back up to right above 700.

While I don't question your experience, I've been using Caffeine app for about 3 years and have never noticed any difference in speeds.

Is it at all possible that Caffeine may be interacting with some other app or plug-in and that might be causing the speed loss that you are experiencing?

:)

Anything is possible. I'll prob just go back to using caffeine on a as needed basis. I was experimenting with turning it to auto login and auto start and setting my mac to sleep after one minute of inactivity. And just using caffeine to click the mac on and off. Maybe just going back to the 15 power saver setting I had before. In trying to fight my impulse to gather needles startup apps that ultimately eat at my macs performance.
