I need something to keep my MBP awake while I'm uploading videos to YT and Vimeo, especially since walking away and letting the computer sleep makes it take hours.

In the past I've used Caffeine, but I've also come across Amphetamine since coming back to macOS. Any suggestions one way or another?

In the nearly twenty years I have been running OS X/macOS on various computers, I have never once had to install a third-party "keep awake" utility.

Go into the Energy Saver preference pane in System Preferences and check the box labeled "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically when the display is off."

I've done this with all night downloads, multi-day iTunes Match uploads, really long video encoding tasks, you name it.

Yes, the Energy Saver route is tried & tested, but not configurable past the minutes/hours/never slider. Amphetamine is so unbelievably powerful (especially for a free app) and has an almost limitless number of options/conditions/rules/automations which I honestly never realised I would find so useful. For example, yes I want my Mac to stay awake while uploading /downloading, or while an app is running...but ONLY until then. I don't want it to stay awake forever unnecessarily. When done, I want my Mac to then sleep - you can configure all that & much more in Amphetamine.
