I like things simple but functional, so I rattled this up for myself. One screen for simplicity, two for when I want bigger buttons and, well, a tip calculator is always handy.
Don't get me wrong it's not something people would pay for (which is why it's not on sale :D) but it suits me fine.
It works on iPhone as well, not that I use it much, there's nothing wrong with the default iPhone calculator.

The best calc app hands down is and always has been calcbot. The names of tweetbot. The new calcbot now includes convertbot which was once a separate app. Now has apple watch support as well.

We've added a Watch app to our iOS calculator Wedge. It also includes live currency conversion, tax and margin calculations all in a single Watch app.

Would love to hear your feedback: Wedge for Watch

I downloaded few cal apps and all of them were lagging.
the response was slow and i had to press few times in order to hit the button.
don't know it's the watch or the apps..

Decided to download. Seems not too bad. Watch app is a little sluggish, though that may be the fault of the Apple APIs and not your app itself.

But hey, it's a calculator and it does math.

ill probably be labeled as a negative nancy but $2 to reinvent the wheel?

Sorry no.

I found a better calculator app it's called calcnerd
The numbers are jumbo size

When you input a symbol like - or + it displays on the screen too
So you can't make a mistake

And there's no lag

The only thing it needs is a glances option

The app is free

Glances are purely informational – you can't have any user interaction.

Tapping on a Glance just brings you to the app, so I'm not sure what good a calculator Glance would do (store recent calculations, maybe?).

Yes storing recent calculations

And a way to open the app real fast

It doesn't hurt to have it ?
You can turn it off & on in settings

The best calculator app is by far SiriImageUploadedByTapatalk1430247208.150718.jpg. Seriously it's so easy I can see why Apple didn't bother to include one (providing you have a data connection of course).

Give this one a try: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/snappy-watch-calculator/id988515890?mt=8

All the buttons are on one screen (no need to force touch), you can see what you're typing as you type, and you don't need to hit an Equals sign (it just calculates on the fly).

PS. I'm the developer.

I like this one for the "all in one screen" effect but now, in addition, I have CalcBot, which I like for tips and conversions, and I also have CalcNerd which gives me scientific functions. Guess I'll keep them all until I run into space limitations (or until I figure out that Siri can do all of it).

Name of the app?

Seeing as this thread is active again I figured I might as well mention I decided to release my app.

It's called Waum, there's a thread about it further down here. I fleshed it out with extra features so its got a single screen and a split screen calculator, tip calculator and multi unit conversion.

The new update which has been submitted has added live currency conversion as well.

Calc bot sucks. It literally lags unless you have wifi or Bluetooth. I want something that works stand alone. Ugh. Anything yet? Or does it need wifi or Bluetooth to do math?

All third party apps actually run on the iPhone, not the watch, so yeah they need WiFi or Bluetooth.

wtf is the point then.. ugh so dumb. i thought the watch had space for apps, so some apps like that should work w/o internet. or else whats the point. It should calculate w/o internet

So there won't ever be one that works without Internet?

As it stands they don't need the internet just now. Well, I can't speak for Calc Bot as I don't use it. Waum doesn't need the internet with the exception of the upcoming currency converter which pulls in live data from the internet, but all of it's other built-in calculators work just fine without internet.

All they need is to be connected to your phone as that is where the code is actually being run. At some point there will be native apps that don't require a connection to your phone at all, Apple has already said as much. What we don't know yet is when, although fingers crossed for an announcement at next months WWDC.

I wasn't near my phone so that's probably why it didn't work. I hope they announce it during June conference.

P-Calc just updated too. RPN on the Apple Watch! But you can't see the stack. Not bad, however.
