I have a Caldigit Thunderbolt 2 hub connected to my monitor, drives etc.

The set up is used by me and my partner depending on whose working in the study. I am on an 2021 M1 Mac Book Pro and my partner is using a 2015 Intel MacBook Pro. I'm using a Apple Thunderbolt to USB C adaptor and they are just plugging in the TB2 cable directly.

All was working fine until a few months ago when the screen and drives would randomly disconnect. It seems to do this once or twice at the start of the day but is then fine for the rest of the day.

Any ideas?

Sounds like either the cable is not up spec or the port is sleeping during low bandwidth times! Check if Ethernet port or the device is set to sleep after a while!

Does this problem happen to both computers? If so, my first thought would be a power supply problem.

I had this hub and have not seen this with a 2019 Intel MBP and a 2021 M1 MBP (with converter). Have moved on now, so later OS might be an issue.

Yes both computers - power supply seems a good thought. I've got a spare so I'll swap that over and see what happens.
