Hi everyone,

does any of you (who own a CalDigit TS3 or TS4) have a problem with USB mouse dongles?

I plug my Razer Pro Click's dongle into one of the USB ports on the TS4 (it could be any of the available USB-A or C ports), and it works for a few hours… but then it suddenly freezes. When I then unplug and try to replug the dongle into the dock, it does not shows up in System Information at all. When I plug it into the laptop directly, it shows up twice, as if there were two dongles plugged in.

In the first case (when replugging into the dock) the mouse doesn't work anymore. In the second case (when plugging into the laptop) it does work.

However, I did by the dock for a reason: I don't want to plug more things into the computer directly, for conveniency reasons.

Do you have any idea, what the heck is going on?

Thank you!

My computer is a 16" MacBook Pro 2021 w/ M1 Pro, running the latest macOS version 12.3.1.

Just to clarify, I have also tried to use an extension cable to distance the dongle from the dock to avoid possible interference problems.

Here Logitech Bolt and Unifying connector sticks without problems at a TS4 dock.
Had both in use at the front USB-A port for a while.

It looks like the Razer dongle is doing some sort of "restarting" every few hours, which my previous TS3+ dock could easily handle, and the laptop can also handle it when the dongle is plugged directly into the MacBook Pro.

Only the TS4 is having trouble with it. :(

I've contacted the CalDigit Support. Will update the thread when they reply.

Follow-up for future readers of this thread:

CalDigit Support could not help, but updating to Ventura seems to have been able to fix the issue. Knock on wood, etc etc, but since I've upgraded macOS to Ventura from Monterey, the issue has not appeared once. 🤞

Hey @matkovsky, I have the Caldigit Element Hub TB4 here. I am experiencing the same issue with both my keyboard and mouse 2.4ghz dongle into the USB ports. I had to plug it into my monitor's built-in hub extension from my Caldigit.

I think this is just the norm of USB 3.0 interferences. My Naga Pro Razer Mouse did include an extension for this reason.
