Does this TB1 <--> USB3 bridge support the OS X energy saver functions (i.e. sleep)?
From their FAQ I gathered that it supports "wake on USB". That makes it sounds like it will support the OS X energy saving settings. Best is to ask CalDigit (they are on twitter, facebook, have e-mail) I suppose (do let us know the answer!).

Order on nov 13 , still don't hear anything from them, anyone need to wait that long?
Not me. I was amazed how quick they were. I ordered on 10 nov, got it on 13 nov. It had to go from the UK to NL. Have you contacted them?

Great to hear this. I am talking to Santa about this dock. Does it have much fan noise? Does fan run all the time?

No fan at all :)

I ordered another one before thanksgiving and they said they will ship my order this week. I just saw their site claiming shipping now.

I can't see these doing very well until more TB devices are released. There's just not enough to justify these types of "docks" yet.

I don't think more TB devices are needed for this product to succeed. In fact, I'm not sure how more TB devices will necessarily increase sales of this product. What additional TB devices are needed?

At least for me, I've always wanted a "docking station" at the office for my MacBook Air. Now, I have a USB keyboard, USB mouse, USB headset, a TB external hard disk AND two monitors all connected through the Thunderbolt Station.

So when I arrive at the office, it's just a single TB cable plugged into my MacBook and I'm good to go. And when I leave the office, it's just the same single TB cable I need to disconnect. For this reason alone, the product is well worth it for me.

And that is the exact same reason why I bought one. You can also create a more tidied up workplace (you can place the dock somewhere else, say under the desk). The set up I have now takes up a little bit more space than with the mStand but there are a lot more devices hooked up to it than before. It actually makes me feel my good old Mac Pro is overrated. My MBA plus dock just seems like such a powerful UNIX setup.

Well,

So to summarise....
1. Macbook pro screen
Tb->Lacie->Dvi
Hdmi->Dvi
This works - 3 screens

2. Macbook Pro
Tb->Dvi
This works - 2 screens

3. Macbook Pro
HDMI->Dvi
This works - 2 screens

4. Macbook Pro
Tb->Dvi
HDMI->Dvi
Doesn't work -only 2 screens - Macbook and HDMI

Right, I need to do some work now, but happy to answer any other queries if I can.

Hi all,

Given the Caldigit Thunderbolt Station comes with USB 3.0, why can't we utilize the 5.0gb/s transfer rate for a USB 3.0 to HDMI (or DVI) connection for 3 monitors? (Macbook Pro w/ Thunderbolt, HDMI monitor on Caldigit, HDMI/DVI monitor on USB 3.0 HDMI/DVI adapter).

USB 3.0 supports up to 5.0gb/s, while USB 2.0 will not provide smooth graphics.

Thunderbolt -> Caldigit Thunderbolt Station -> 1. HDMI direct to Monitor 1; 2. USB 3.0 HDMI/DVI Adapter to Monitor 2

Some examples to plug in to Caldigit Thunderbolt Station:

Can anyone can confirm if that setup above would work?:confused::confused:

Cheers!

I know of a lot of people (mostly programmers) that would jump on this if it allowed dual regular monitors. But since the hdmi is passthrough that means the outgoing TB port cannot be used for a second monitor unless it's a TB monitor.

i don't think it has to be a TB monitor, just as long as you have an adapter it works fine

Edit: I just checked the website, and you were right. you have to have a thunderbolt display in order to have a second monitor
