Calendar app?

I'm at a loss trying to figure out how to navigate this app. The digital crown, force pressing, swiping etc. seem to do nothing.

Most importantly, how to change the month. I get the feeling that the app just isn't very good (or useful).

Force pressing lets you switch between list view or day view and also to goto today.
There is no way to go to another month, backward or forward.

I think this is a major oversight on Apple's part.
