Calendar Bug on iPad?

I had an iPad fourth GEN and when I was in the calendar on the month or week view I could not select individual dates however if I were on the day view I could. I just bought the iPad fifth GEN and I have the same situation. On my iPhone however I can select individual days on the month view. Just curious if anyone else is run into this?

I need to check this on my iPad mini2 which does still run iOS10.3.2.
Which iOS versions do your iPads run? I suppose you are using Apple's own calendar?
I've switched a long time ago to a third party calendar (WeekCalendar) that is connect to my Google calendar and the one from my wife.

Yes, I’m using Apple’s calendar. I’m on iOS 11.2.1 but it isn’t new to this update.
