Calendar is gone

On iOS 6 the native Calendar app went blank when I was trying to figure out why the events on it were from a different Google account than the one I had hooked up so I turned the calendar off and on again to see if it would fix, but now I can't even add an event to the calendar never mind it reading my Google cal. I can't download another calendar app without upgrading to a newer iOS version. Any ideas as to what I can do maybe short of restoring or updating..?

You tried restarting the phone?
Maybe reset home screen layout.
Are you JB or on stock ios 6?

Have you tried a restore yet?...using your backup, that is.
