Can someone explain to me why the following is happening?

I have standard-issue Calendar, of course, but I use Fantastical, both desktop and iOS. Why do birthdays show up twice? I get two instances of "so-and-so's birthday" in each application. This didn't happen before I went to Yosemite, so I've been wondering if the update broke something or simply reconfigured/defaulted some setting that I've missed. (It's been so long since I set my Calendar prefs, I actually found it quite confusing to figure out. Everything has always just worked properly without my fiddling with it until now.)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Do you maintain your own birthday calendar and have birthdates assigned in Contacts? That would give you two birthday events for a day. If so, disable the other "system" birthday calendar.

In Fantastical, iOS, Settings > Calendars, scroll to bottom "Other" calendars, tick off Birthday.
