Calendar 'unable to load' (Today View)

As per the title. I've noticed for the past day or two the calendar widget in the today view shows 'unable to load'. I noticed a thread with the same problem but no real solution.

The issue is only on my iPhone 6 Plus though not on my iPad Air 2. This is despite a reset, logging out of and back into iCloud and checking settings (the same on both devices.

Any ideas?

Have you tried opening the Calendar app and refreshing calendars/data there and making sure the events are correctly showing up there?

Tried that but the actual app seemed to be syncing fine across all devices.

Strangely though I reconnected my Apple Watch this morning and it's started working again.....
