Can anyone confirm for me whether there is any implementation of ToDos from iCal on the iPad? From what I've read there doesn't seem to be and I'm just amazed that Apple is continuing to ignore this. The Apple Mail To Dos are a joke and the only workaround I can see is to make all day events and use these as To Dos but maybe I'm missing something....?

Also, is it now possible on the iPad to select individual calendars or is it one or all? eg I have work, personal, birthday and holiday calendars - can I have the work and birthday ones showing with the other two hidden or can I just select either the work one or all calendars? Again this is something I understood was going to be fixed in iPhone 4.0 but there doesn't seem to be any sign of it either in the current iPad or future iPhone OS.

    Thanks!

No, AFAIK, you are not missing anything with the To Dos. The best solution is to use Toodledo, Things or another specific To Do app. Toodledoo has apps for iPhone and iPad and works wonderfully. People rave about Things but I'm waiting for "cloud" syncing before purchasing.

On the other issue, I can select all of my calendars to view and then turn them on and off individually on the iPad so that I can view any set of calendars together that I prefer. (Is that what you are asking?)

Hey Dennis thanks for that. Yeah that's what I'm talking about on calendars - I have a lot of calendars but when I'm at home I only want to see Personal and Birthdays, when I'm at work I want to see Work only, so I wanted individual viewing of more than one calendar. With iPhone now it's one or all. Good to see I will be able to pick which ones to see on the iPad when I get it.

On the ToDos - I'm already using Appigo ToDo which is actually a brilliant task manager - only problem is it doesn't integrate with MobileMe which I subscribe to. So while everything else syncs automatically via the cloud, I need to remember to run ToDo in the evenings when I go home and manually sync it via Wifi - which is grand but would be nice to have it done automatically through Calendars. It really is something Apple needs to address, especially when they are trying to promote iPad/iPhone as business solutions!

Anyway, thanks a million for the info

Have you tried Things for the iPad and the Mac? They're much more capable than the ToDos in iCal.

Haven't tried Things, Appigo's ToDo will do me fine until Apple gets their act together and implements todos on the iPhone OS. To be honest, I don't want huge functionality - if they sync automatically via mobileme along with my contacts, bookmarks, etc, that's what's most important to me. In fact, now that I know I can selectively display calendars on the iPad, I'll probably drop Appigo and just use Calendar all day events labelled "todo ...". It's not very elegant but at least it syncs! Crazy that we're at iPhone OS v4 though and it's still not sorted....

My biggest issue with iCal (iPad/iPhone/Mac, etc.) is the inability to send invitations to someone else without it having to be an exchange calendar of sorts. So frustrating  How many of us have wanted to send calendar invitations to friends or family that also have Apple devices with iCal so that everyone's coordinated?? Come on Apple, that is a no-brainer to me.

Dnc1916- you are welcome. Did you know that Appigo's To Do works with Toodledo nicely? You can use the web Toodledo app and it will sync with your iPhone to do app. And it is free. (I use appigo's To Do on the iPhone but it is not available for the iPad. )

Eye4design - I realize it is a work around but you could publish a calendar for your friends and family withs common events, etc. Our extended family does that and they just email me items to add to the calendar for all to see.

    Sent from my iPad.
