I don't understand why everyone is playing this issue down, it sounds awful strange to me. I mean, I haven't calibrated my battery and probably never will purely because I don't see the point; I get decent battery life as it is and a battery is easily replaceable.
The thing that gets me about what you've described is how you get random fluctuations when nothing's running. Yes, I do get re-estimated times but they're all in accordance with what I'm doing, not randomly jumping down by half an hour and back up by ten minutes. That sounds like a problem to me.
The only issue I've seen with my battery is that after a week, it's already down to 96% health which worries me slightly. If it drops to 90% in the next couple of weeks, I'll be taking it to the Apple Store 'cause a 10% drop in battery health in three weeks is completely unacceptable.
