I have used the apple color calibration tool a few times in a row now, and the screen changes so much depending on the tilt of your head/the screen, I'm having a hard time getting a perfect calibration.

Anyone have any tricks or more advanced methods than just the regular apple calibrator, in expert mode of course.

Or should I just calibrate it as good as I can looking at it dead straight on, and realize if the screen is tilted fore/aft, it's gonna mess with the gamma and colors regardless?

Sounds like you want an IPS panel too. The TN panel in the 17 is pretty good as far as TN panels go, but yes you have to look at it directly on or else it's going to shift pretty badly. Just learn to live with it.

You'll only be able to get it close with the built in color calibrator. If you really care then you should look into getting a hardware calibrator. Makes a pretty good difference from the best you can do with just squinting your eyes at the little apple logos on the grids.
