iPhone XS Call failure system with Apple Watch 4 WiFi

Hello,

First of all, I am not sure if I’m posting this in the right subforum but its kinda confusing so I will just post it in iphone section.

I have the new iPhone XS and the Watch Series 4 GPS (not lte).

Everything works fine, calls and wifi is just fine on iPhone. But when I try to make a call on apple watch (which is connected to iphone via wifi and bluetooth, and the iphone is very near to it, almost next to it) it doesn’t work.

It shows an error “system call failure” on both watch and phone. I noticed it happens when the phone is locked, if it’s unlocked then I can normally make a call through the watch. Also I tried calling from watch and it printed the error, right after that I called from iphone and everything was fine.

So I’m not sure what device causes it. My iphone or the watch? And Why does this happen? Does anyone know how I can fix it?

Must be a bug as I tried it on my watch and it worked just now. I’m sure it will get fixed with an update soon.

Nope it used to work absolutely fine on my 8 plus but since the Xs max it just didn’t work. I’ve updated to macOS Mojave as well, but still the same.

I’ve got the max and my MBA is on Mojave and it it’s still working. However until recently my MacBook wouldn’t unlock with my Apple Watch consistently.

@akash.nu I am not 100% sure that it is working BUT I reset my Watch, restored a backup from my iphone and now it seems to be working fine. No call failures. Maybe try to backup first your device and then reset it and check again.

@Shanghaichica Unlocking with Watch didn't work for me (after resetting the watch) but then I realized I did not turn the option on (Macbook - System Preferences - Security and Privacy - Allow your Apple Watch to unlock your Mac)

I will post back in case the issue was not solved (for now it seems to be ok, although I haven't made a lot of calls with my Watch)

I’ve got the max and my MBA is on Mojave and it it’s still working. However until recently my MacBook wouldn’t unlock with my Apple Watch consistently.

Unlocking with my watch worked as a charm for me.
