Anyone familiar with the call identification feature in ios 11? I only recently saw this, after I came across the Truecaller app. I toggled it on in the Phone settings. But what is confusing is what it says below... that call blocking and identification apps are unable to access any information about incoming calls. then how could they function...?

iOS will compare the incoming number with a database each app can store and update and block or identify it accordingly. I guess what that text means is that the app will never know who is calling you.

Basically, the extension does not replace the core phone functions, so, never actually handles the call.

The blocking extension gets the phone number passed to it if the number dos not appear in user's contacts. If the number is in the spam list, the extension tells the phone to block the call.

The photos show it notifying you if its a known spam call.. so you can opt to ignore. Ive yet to see any information provided by TrueCaller for any incoming call. I had a call this morning from an unknown 800 number... it showed nothing. But i copied the phone number, opened the TrueCaller app, and did a search and it identified it as a spam number. So i'm not sure why it didn't provide that information on the call screen while the call was coming in.

Sounds like an issue with the TrueCaller app, as the app I use, Hiya, is working just fine.
