my graphics setting are optimal performance set by the game except I turned up the res to 1680/1050 because thats what the 20 inch imac max is. I mucked around a bit had some trouble during single player level set in the night when some chopper spot light went all blocky I liked the effect but it was not right. I think that was a glow setting but im still trying a few things.Any tips appreciated.

I didn't really turn up my graphics on my MBP - that is probably where your issue is on (I found that AA takes a bit of a kickin too).

BTW: I gotta say that this is the best game I have ever played. I have played through single player about 5 times and now I have jumped into the multiplayer arena....I have never had this much fun in a game (but maybe that is just me).

PC Hater

ok so i just got a 24 Inch iMac with a 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme and
2GB of memory. Really want to play COD4. Do i need to run Leopard or will XP work with Tiger. Also, do i need a separate partition on my drive to run XP? The big questions i guess is: is this new machine fast enough to run XP and games? Thanks for any help

I run CoD4 with my new 20 inch with 3GB RAM. Runs excellent. I use the bootcamp from Leopard to boot XP. You'll need to set up bootcamp and a partition.

I have the same Mac as you and I'm running XP SP2 using Boot Camp in a 24GB partition and COD4 is running very smooth.

perfect

Thanks people. Since on set up i didn't make a partition for the hated XP, do i have to reinstall the system or can i make a partition without reinstalling? Thanks for your help.

Just want to make sure, if I buy Leopard and XP then COD 4, I will be able to run it no problem, Single and Multiplayer?
I have...
iMac
Intel Core 2 Duo
2.16 GHz
1 GB Memory

whenever i start the game, it says my video card doesnt support separate alpha blend and then it shuts off. any idea why? I'm running a MBP 2.16GHZ with 2GB of RAM.

Will it work?

I have the older version of the iMac. The 17" iMac. I have XP, do i need leopard or can i play it on what i have right now? Do i need anything else or do i need to change my settings in anyway?

Also on the multiplayer do you just play against the people online with a PC

It comes with both single and multiplayer versions. Everybody has a different view, but I personally only played enough of the single player mode against the bots to get familiar enough with the action to be able to go up against multiplayer online. No way can a set of bots match the skill and ruthlessness of online humans. I was doing well enough at single player hardcore, but the learning curve for the multiplayer against real opponents was steep.

do u mind answering my question before that about whether it will work or not on the older version 17" iMac with XP and 2GB of Ram?

Mac sucks for gaming...lol

MB its not an alienware crap, but any iMac or macbook pro will run very nice any game, can't be happier with my iMac and pwn pc sealots. Getting 60+ kills with it its awesome. hahaha

:D

XP or Vista?

So I'm learning a lot on this thread about Boot Camp and COD4. So after I buy XP or Vista this weekend(200bucks ouch) and use boot camp, HOW MUCH SPACE SHOULD I DEDICATE TO THE XP PARTITION?? i think it defaults to like 5gb. is that enough? I'm using the 24" dual core, 2.8ghz, 2gb iMac. Bear in mind that I am a total caveman when it comes to this kind of stuff, but I am a gamer who wants to play on the mac, something I've only done with Warcraft. I just want someone to tell me how to do it right before I toast my sexy Apple.

You should be able to get Vista or XP for about half of that. I just bought yet another copy of XP Professional for $129 from NewEgg. XP Home Edition is $90.

When you start up Boot Camp, one of the first things it will do is ask you how big you want your Windows partition to be. If you set a partition larger than 32 gigabytes, you'll have to format the partition in NTFS when the Windows install screen comes up - otherwise you can use FAT32. XP will take up something like 6 gigabytes on the disk - if you're going to be installing some of the more modern FPS games, I think you'll want substantially more than a 5 gig partition.

You won't toast anything. If you partition and it turns out to be unworkable, you can easily go back and remove the partition. Of course, that does mean you'd have to re-install Windows, and installation of Windows always does tend to be rather lengthy and mildly painful, but other than time consumption, it's not a problem.

I don't know what to tell you about appropriate partition size. I have two terabytes of internal storage on my Mac Pro so I didn't give it much thought. I would think you'd want a partition that will easily accomodate your Windows install plus the size of your games plus a generous overhead for future additions and I'd recommend 32 gig (default button on Boot Camp) and FAT32 since you won't have to spend the extra time reformatting the partition to NTFS.
