So Im sitting here at my Computer, and I see something out of the corner of my eye. I had a visitor. So like any good geek, I took his picture. 🙂 Never seen anything like him before, any thoughts on what he might be?

Well, after this had sat unsolved for several days, curiosity got the better of me, and I emailed a link to my dad, who's a proper entomologist and everything. 😛

Here is the official word:

Actually it is a bug! It's what we call an assassin bug in the UK ('cos they pounce on small beasties) tho' I don't know what they're called in the USA.

So there you go. Here is the requisite Wikipedia article about 'em – they do indeed seem to be called assassin bugs in the US as well.
