One other thing to consider... I only expect a couple years of useful life from a frequently used fitness device.....
They also have lit-ion batteries that are only good for about 1000 cycles before it is unusable and it's trash time no matter how well you take care of it.

my garmin looks so sad when i put the Nike AW2 next to it. If only garmin could make theirs look halfway as nice as the AW i may not have bought one.

Not sure why you think 13 years with any tech device would be a satisfying experience. Actually your 225 was old tech 1 year ago when the 235 hit the market. Just sayin.

I was approaching it from a money POV. I know that my 225 is not new anymore, and that it hasn't been new for a long time. However, what I was getting at was that I (me, not everyone, just me) do not need to invest in a new GPS watch once I get my Apple Watch because for my needs, the AW+an app would also work well enough.

Gotcha, I understand. I guess I was taken back by the"13 years". Sadly, as most tech stuff hits the market, newer and better is not too far behind. For me, I love the innovation and improvements. If you get a chance look up the Garmin 101. We use to all it "the brick". It took up half my arm, took a long time to acquire GPS and the battery went pretty quick, and could not be used as a watch. Wow, that looks like those bracelets you see in Power Rangers.

The 13 years came around based on the prices of a certain running app and an entry-level Garmin. An entry-level Garmon costs $130 brand new. The app I mentioned earlier costs $10/year. Dividing 130 by 10 would result in 13, hence the comment about 13 years.

I'm at a point where I actually need an Apple Watch. If I didn't really need one, I would have picked up the FR235 instead and stuck with basic notifications.
