What's with the job market in IT. It seems like everywhere I look, all the damn decent jobs require MCSE/CCNA, blah blah certs. I have about 2 years of experience and it's not helping one bit. Sure, I've gotten a few interviews here and there, but nothing solid.

MCSE/CCNA isn't even that easy to pass and every freakin' job is requesting to either have it or prefer candidates to have it. I would think practical hands on training and experience is much more valuable than these "paper MCSE/CCNA" candidates who just brain dumps their way thru it.

MCSE and CCNA focuses on different things, but it appears that CCNA may be a better value considering it's only a two (or one) part exam as opposed to MS's seven part MCSE.

I just don't get it, are there that many MCSE/CCNA candidates walking around? Without a job? o_O

My job didn't ask for those certificates, but then again I am on the Linux / Unix side ;) Still a lot of job offers over here though.
