I recently had an auction on Ebay. After a lot of weird delays in the seller shipping me my item, I got nervous that it was a scam and asked for a refund. Surprisingly, he begrudgingly complied.

I paid with PayPal, and refunded me through PayPal. Everything seems cool, it's just that there is a "Temporary Hold" on the refund. The email tells me it's going to take 3-4 days for my bank to clear the funds, since I originally sent the money instantly from my bank. Which doesn't make much sense to me, but whatever.

My question is, there is no way at all that he can stop the refund at this point is there? Once he initiated the refund, he can't renege on it and screw me out of my money, right?

I am actually really new to PayPal, and I've heard some insane horror stories with scams, so I'm just trying to get informed.

No, he can't cancel. It is just how PayPal interfaces with your bank, it is always easier to take money out than it is to deposit it.
