- There is no easy way to install an app on iDevice from a computer directly.

- Swipe the edge of the screen in Safari to go back to the previous page. You don't have to reach the top left corner of the screen to do this. This swipe back feature works in a lot of other apps.

- Instant Hotspot feature is supposed to eliminate the need to toggle hotspot on/off but it is currently not working for everyone.

- The fact that you're asking total strangers on the Internet to justify your $650.00 purchase tells me you shouldn't have purchased it.

I want to thank everyone for your input on this subject. i have not been back to read responses for a couple of weeks. A little update: First let me address the "Fact I'm asking for advice for a $650.00 purchase. (Actually add another $60.00 for a Gen-U-Ine Apple leather case - I was not asking "total strangers" to make my purchase decisions, especially since most of the posters here are sarcastic 15 year olds. Moving on...

Handoff, my initial "gotta have it" reason for coming back to an iPhone should have been called "Handjob" It is way too buggy to be useful and a lot of us have gotten jerked around trying to keep it working...

Back Button: Many Apple apps such as mail require a two handed maneuver to get back to the previous page. I see the little back arrow in the top left corner constantly - Few functions work with a simple page swipe.

Finger scan works well but repeated phone resets throughout the day have me reentering my passcode often. These resets are for icloud issues bluetooth connection problems etc.

Large bezels - They suck - End of story. Its a poor legacy design choice.

Legacy - Speaking of - The phone interface looks like my iPhone 3.

Headphone jack on the bottom - Another design choice (for us) designed to prep us for an uber expensive headphone through "Beats Me" headphone connection next year. Kiss the 3.5mm good buy and pay the good Dr for your new headphones on the way out.

"To each his own" I agree the Nexus 6 will be a beast but I think I am going to go with the 2014 Moto X with a leather back - If I do drop it, I will have this phone waiting in a drawer to back me up until next years crop of phones...

Is the swipe back action somehow not working for you? It's supported in all the native apps as far as I can tell and a lot of third party apps.

Reset issues aren't normal or typical, you might need to figure out what's going on there and get it resolved in some way.

Interface is certainly not the same as it was on iPhone 3 as it clearly changed quite a bit in iOS 7. Sure, it's the same in placement as far as basically the home screen goes, but that's just one part of it all with many parts of app navigation, design and other parts having been updated and refined. Some might like it, some might not, but that doesn't actually make it bad or wrong.

There's also really nothing wrong with the headphone jack on the bottom. Nothing that would imply it's limited to something or anything like that, it works just fine as any headphone jack, and is perfectly fine for many people and even better for many than a jack on the top. Again, might be a preference thing, which is fine, but, again, nothing that makes it actually wrong or bad.

In addition to abandoned apps which stayed in the iOS 6 era, Google's apps are some prominent examples of apps that ignored the system wide swipe-to-go-back gesture. Most other apps support it.

I think with those it's more that a number of them have their own somewhat different uses for the swipe gestures, or haven't really been updated to support iOS 7 and later design. So, yes, the back action isn't fully universal or something that's basically inherent in the OS so that it applies to anything and everything (like Android). It was changed to be better down the line, in iOS 7, but, as you point out, it's not something that has been adopted across the board by all apps.

It wasn't as much of something on people's minds with the smaller screens as reaching the top was simple for any back action there, with the larger one it's becoming more of top-of-mind for more people, with the iOS 7 swipe back changes easing that for the most part, and even reachability functionality on the larger 6 and 6+ helping in some ways too.

I can swipe back on some apps. its hit or miss. The headphone jack on the bottom I just do not like. Apple is going to incorporate audio (headphone connection) into next years lighting connector from what I've read. Just a rumor but it makes buying Beats more viable now.

Hi all. I had the original iphone 3 and the two models after (Before the 4 came out) I then switched to Android. over the last few years I have had several phones, my last work issued phone was a Note 3, I have changed jobs recently and bought a 2013 Moto X of craigslist to hold me over. Several weeks later I got the Moto, the iPhone started shipping and I was able to snag a 6 Plus off CL for $650 - With the idea that, if I didn't like it, I wouldn't lose money. The big sell for me was the idea of handoff to my 13" rMBP. That works great!

So, my issues, questions are:

With Google, you can pick out apps you want on your phone from your computer, buy them and they will automatically load on the phone. Does Apple offer this yet or do I have to make all purchases from the phone directly?

Next - I know everyone loves that big home button and touch ID but man has it blown the phone size out of proportion. Worse, Apple insists on having a 1/2 inch of bezel at the top and bottom because of that one button - why not add a menu and especially a back button in that lower portion? Every time I view a web page and want to go back I have to make a two handed move to reach to the top of the phone to click back. Is there a shortcut or trick I am missing to go back a page?

HotSpot on/off toggle
Is there a way to have an active widget like Android to turn my hotspot on and off without digging into the menu? I notice you can pay $5.00 for an app called launcher that will supposedly give me this option. Is there any way to do this for free? I'm not excited about paying for this sort of app right now because i am kind of leaning on going back to Android for my phone which sucks because I will never part with my Retina Macbook.

Any suggestions or advice or (not kidding) compelling reasons to stay with this phone would be appreciated. FYI should I switch back I am leaning towards either the 2014 Moto X or possibly the new Nexus 6 (It is the same physical size as my iPhone 6 Plus but you get a 1/2" more screen) The Moto X is about a 5" screen but physically a good deal smaller than either the 6 or 6 Plus. Thanks

Extremely neat tip for your back button issue, in alot of applications, you can just simply swipe back, from the edge of the left of the screen to the right, it makes it really fast and simple going back in applications

So like in Safari, you wanna go to previous page, just do the gesture, swipe from left to right , edge of the screen from the left to the right

Also i actually find Reachability to work pretty well now in iOS 8.1, it is pretty fast and works pretty well, (double tap home button , not press or click, double tap home button and the top of the screen comes down, it actually works pretty well for me and i use it pretty often)

Also if you are having some issues with TouchID not being completlt accurate, just register your same finger again for better accuracy, I registered my right thumb twice in Touch ID and it literally has been working for me like 100% so far , no joke, I had no idea you could of even registered the same finger twice(someone on these forums taught me that) you should seriously do this as it helps alot

And I also dont understand your complaint about the headphone jack and blabbering about Beats Headphones and us being "forced" to buy them next year

Seems like that has already been covered fairly well in this thread already.

enjoy the remains of what was a successful company named Motorola.
