Probably won't work....but if anyone has both could you give it a try? Hook up a USB 3g modem to the Camera connection kit and see if you can make your own 3G iPad. 😀

Would be interesting, but the iPhone OS would have to know the particular modem, what to dial, etc. I doubt it would have the ability to, but I'd just love to be wrong on that end. I've got a USB 3G modem for my MacBook that I used to pull my iPhone SIM card out and use for emergency sessions - it would be killer, but even my MacBook needed software to get installed first.
