I tried it a few times but found it fiddly. For me, using the conventionl method of taking snaps seems just as easy.
I wonder if the camera control will be around in a couple of years?

How do you find it? And do you use it? If so, have you gotten use to it? I guess my sausage fingers don't help!:p

This topic has been discussed to death, plenty of other threads to talk about it in.

Personally I dislike everything about it. For me (and I've given it a solid chance) it adds literally nothing to the experience.

I also dislike that there's an extra 'hole' in my cases now as well. I know there are a few cases that cover it with a button, but so far I'm not a fan of those cases.

It adds a hint of functionality as an open/shutter button alone, but what would make that more beneficial is if it was actually protruding, rather then receeding from the frame which makes it ever-so-slightly harder to click. But then you have another protruding button, which I'm guessing Apple doesn't like. So just make the action button have double-click functionality to open and keep the volume buttons as shutter... 🤷‍♂️

Does anyone have the default settings? I feel like I fiddled with all of the regular and accessibility settings when I first got my phone. Would like to go back to stock.

I have totally disabled this thing. I didn’t even try as I feel totally lost with an additional button. It’s kind of stressing and I don’t know why.

Imho, there's now too many external controls on the iPhone. It's getting harder to pick it up without accidently pressing a button!

...It’s kind of stressing and I don’t know why.

This is my feeling as well. I know it's weird, and probably sounds way too nitpicky. But it's an extra point on the phone I have to think about when picking it up, shifting it in my pocket, etc - and for me it's in a spot I evidently grip often. It's also an extra spot on the phone that's vulnerable due to the hole most cases implement.

I know it probably sounds absolutely ridiculous to some people; but I agree - it somehow adds extra thought to holding the phone, which was previously a thoughtless process. 🤦‍♂️ (facepalming myself)

Very annoying button. Pretty much useless. Everything it can do can be done on screen while having better control.

On the other hand, I did not buy the phone for this button. All I wanted was better battery life and finally I got it.

Battery life is exceptional compared to iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The camera controls on the iPhone 16 Pro Max are amazing—manual adjustments are super smooth and intuitive, making it feel like a real pro-level tool. I’m really impressed with the flexibility, and it's a huge upgrade over previous models!

I saw this thread and after weeks of almost forgetting it exists, I tried using the camera button again. It really is a poorly implimented feature I must say. I couldn't rely on it to take a picture of my children with any urgency and I really have to stretch my hand around to reach it if I actually want to see the whole screen to pose a shot. It really does feel like a last minute add-on to justify a difference to last years iPhone IMO.

I think that this button is overloaded with camera settings. I'd love to be able to disable some of it. For me, for example, the only two settings that matter when it comes to the button, are the zoom option and the depth option. I don't need the other options on the button, because those I like to adjust via touch screen. Imo the settings on the button and the settings on the touchscreen should complement eachother, not do exactly the same.
