So I'm not sure if this is a hardware or software issue so I posted it here. Basically I hadn't used the built in camera in a little while before upgrading to mountain lion so it is possible that it stopped working before that, It was working the last time I tried to use it, and I noticed it not working after the upgrade. Basically if I open a program like photobooth it says there is no camera connected. So I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a known issue of mountain lion killing the camera, or if anyone has ideas of how to fix it. Applecare is up so if it is a hardware issue there's not much I can do about it.

I had an isight camera stop working on my imac a while back when upgrading from leopard to snow leopard. It did the exact same thing, so I-m pretty sure it's software related. Use this page to start the trouble shooting and to verify it isn't hardware though.

Does it show up in the system profiler?

If it shows up there, restart in safe mode and see if it works. If so then, there's some 3rd party app that's interfering with it. I've heard chrome and isyncr can cause conflicts so see if you have those installed. Also, make sure all software is up to date, repair permissions. If all else fails hope that the 10.8.1 update is coming soon. :(

Oh crap... that may actually be hardware related then. Try booting up in safe mode, if it still doesn't show up in the system profiler then the isight camera may be kaput. :(
Well I booted up in safe mode and still couldn't find it. Just to make sure I'm looking in the right place Apple changed the name of system profiler to system information in 10.8, right?
