We've bought 2 iphone xs 256gb (let's name them iphone A (good) and iphone B (bad)).

Tested both side by side and found out that:

1. iphone B has worse detalization of selfie camera over iphone A.

2. iphone B camera flickering effect takes place where iphone A looks good and works without problems. Flickering is for both rear and selfie. Flickering effect takes place for iphone B even in photo mode. Please take a look at video.

Video example: Dropbox - IMG_5436.MOV
Left: Iphone A - good
Right: Iphone B - not good
This is a lighting: https://www.ikea.lt/en/products/bed...ts/levang-led-ceiling-lamp-white-art-80350117

What I've tried to fix the problem:

1. Hard reset
2. Restore via DFU
3. Restore to 12.0.1 to check how selfies differ - the same issue with camera on B
4. Update from 12.0.1 to 12.1 - didn't help

Didn't help at all. Flicker effect remains on both rear and selfie while on Iphone A looks good.

Yesterday we've visited a shop and checked how it works under their lighting conditions - both where flickering.

Does anyone has the same problem?
Is it hardware vs software?

Thanks!

Another iPhone XS "B" here, so irritating. Also, indoor photos are at most ok, worse than my iPhone 6S's...

You can recreate this when opening the slowmotion mode, this is normal.
Does it still flicker outside in great lighting?

It doesn't flicker outside.
This effect applies only to spaces with lamp lighting.

nnarayann, yes photos on my 5s has better quality in low light but provides less details. On Iphone XS it's like a brush painted picture (

I've created a topic on apple site https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8631966 as well.

I don't understand why they behave differently in same conditions.
They should behave the same, by that i mean: no flickering in video mode. Personally i dont have it on my Xs, but try take it to the store you bought it from and let them take a look at it.

The reason it flickers in low light especially in slow motion has to do with the camera recording over 120fps. The lights in the room does flicker (but the eye can not see it) but the camera can pick this up.
