Don’t think it’s been discussed much, but Photography is an important part of the device for most people.

The improvement in the megapixels is one thing, however the increase in sensor size is actually really impressive over the past few years and it’s not actually that much smaller now than a 1” inch type sensor used in cameras such as the Sony RX100 range.

The increase in sensor size from even the 11 Pro to the 14 Pro is going to be amazing for people into iPhone Photography!

Another example... 13 Pro on the left, the new 14 Pro will use the 1/1.28" and a typical 1" type sensor.
It's also worth remembering that the phones that do use a 1" type sensor, don't actually use all of the sensor so it will be a nice step up for everyone upgrading this year especially with Apple's improved image processing and computational processes.

Sensor size is certainly a massive area of improvement that’s for sure and the iphone needed it
