I've used a screen protector for the first time on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and it doesn't bother me. My wife is upgrading from her iPhone X Pro to the 13 Pro Max and she wants me to install a screen protector and lens protector. I've never used a lens protector. What is recommended/best and do they degrade picture quality? Thanks

I’ve only heard of negative experiences from the few I know who used the lens covers. They’re not necessary by ANY means. In fact I can’t think of a practical use case for them.

You want to pair some cheap plastic over apples advanced lenses and reduce the quality of your photos ?

Never said I wanted to and I don't. My wife asked about it, hence my question. I don't know anything about it but my daughter dated someone who manufactured after market telephoto and macro lens attachments for iPhones that are very high quality. I shoot professionally with Nikon D5"s and all the pro lenses from fisheye and the f2.8 14-24 to the f4 600 and use neutral filters on a number of my lenses with very minor if any degradation of quality so it can be done. I just don't know if it has been done on iPhones. If there is a market for it high quality protectors could be produced and if the value was there and the lenses are susceptible to damage enough people would pay a premium for it now that the camera quality continues to improve.

There really is no need at all for putting a protector over the camera lenses on the iPhone. It really would only serve to potentially degrade picture quality. The lenses are made from sapphire and are the least likely part of the phone to scratch and break.

A suitable case will protect the lenses without having to place another piece of glass over them

I’ve never ever used or had the need to put any type of lens protector on an iPhone. Why would you? Isn’t the lens cover sapphire crystal? Whatever it is it’s great.

Look at nillkin covers with a camera protector slider, does not impact quality and can protect your lenses while not in use. I have one and it is very nice.
