I've opened up my Early 2006 20" iMac, and will be replacing the fried hard drive. I notice that about 3/4" of insulation is missing from the camera/mic cable, exposing silver strands of wire. A piece of foil tape may have been attached there too. Question: Has this insulation been removed by design, and if so, why? Also, where and how should this cable be secured, i.e., should that foil tape be attached in a certain way?

Thanks in advance.
