ok, it's a 2016 12" macbook, so technically... a million years old. am running the latest big sur beta, and all is well, but... my camera stopped working. the green light just pulses. facetime can't find it, but it DOES show in system information.

i reset the nvram, the smc. did a safe boot. tried a test user account. and ran the hardware test (no issues found). apple suggests i bring it in, but... wondering if anyone has any other suggestions?

I have an external SSD with several different macOS systems, so. if I had your Macbook here, I would try booting up to an older system. Try the camera then. The PhotoBooth app (in your Applications folder) is another app that you can try.
Also, the Zoom app will open the camera in that app's preferences.
But, sounds like your camera has failed, particularly if it also refuses to work on an older system.
You could open up your MacBook, and try reseating the camera connector (The flashing green LED likely means that the camera is connected, just not working)

guess it really is a hardware thing (i've already tried zoom, skype, photobooth). and the camera works on my imac on the same big sur beta.

thanks for the ideas!
