Camera Prime is the only camera app you'll ever need! And to celebrate its release, we're giving it away for FREE! Here's the iTunes description:

So, if you feel like trying it out, just download it! And, if you'd like to support us, simply go to the settings in Camera Prime and tap the "Support Developer" button at the very bottom. An iAd will appear, and all you have to do is tap on it once. :) (NOTE: The button will not appear if an iAd is not loaded)

    Enjoy!

It would be good if we could zoom in and out when looking at pictures in prime review mode, and it would be awesome if we could crop the image, maybe rotate it, adjust brightness etc in prime review mode. But I think zooming in to look at portions of the picture is the most useful

Should wait till camera apps update next week after 4.1 and the built-in HDR function.

Does this camera app save the location of the photo like the native app?

Incorrect, click the button on the left and it enables your location. Had a quick go, it needs some performance improvements. Also already locked up on me...

I thought Apple didn't allow access to location information for pictures yet.

It's definitely a quick app. Dev, I would like to see a grid mode (rule of 3rds) and retina display UI graphics!

The button at the bottom left corner is the PREVIEW button for camera roll. It does not activate geotagging.

Verified with Aperture, and there are no metadata.

    There are no geotagging.

Then why does it access my location for videos and pictures?

I got this pop-up as well. However the app doesn't use location service for geotagging purposes. You can verify so by EXITING the app, and look for the GPS arrow at the status bar (quickly). It's not there. The same GPS arrow appears for the native Camera app, thus confirming location service is used for geotagging purposes.

Verify this again using any photo app like iPhoto/Aperture, or just using the native Photo app, under the "Places" category. Photos taken by CameraPrime is not updated in it.

I suspect location service is used by this app for analytic purposes.

In iOS4, Apple added new APIs that allowed access to more data in the camera roll, including location data. However, Apple REQUIRES you show that location dialogue, whether or not you actually access location data from the photos. I disagree with this, but I cannot do anything about it.

As for geotagging, it has not been possible (using official APIs). That is, until now. iOS 4.1 includes the APIs needed to geotag, and the next update of Camera Prime will have geotagging (it's already working on my phone ;) )

If you have any more questions feel free to email me at testuttech@gmail.com :)

    Excellent OP!

Make sure you submit the next revision once iOS4.1 is released! :)
