Camera roll not in order anymore

I’ve had my iPhone X since release day and up until yesterday my camera roll was in chronological order. I have about 200+ pictures and videos from years ago now appearing as the most recent. There’s even a few pictures and videos I took last Friday showing up as recent but if I were to not count the 200+ old stuff in between the new stuff they would be showing up out of order with other pictures from last Friday.

I saw a few threads with a fix that required more than I have time to do right now. I’m also concerned that if I follow those steps to manually arrange and this is an iOS issue that Apple will have it sorted with an update and it will throw off the order again.

Duplicate the pictures taken with my x or the old pics that show up as recent? I’m thinking about just not messing with anything in hopes that an iOS update will fix it.

Yep. Not an iPhone X issue. I have photos from 20 years ago that are now showing up as taken last month. Great.

Same. I have a series of videos that duplicate themselves regularly. I sat one day and removed them 6 times. But it keeps happening. And then they show up as recent videos. Crazy making.

I've got a similar but slightly different problem. I've just transferred a whole load of photos over from my iPhone to my Mac, to discover that, when you put them into date order, the numbers in the file names seem to be completely random. That's a big problem if you then photoshop them because the dates on the files change to the date of the amendment and so they are out of order completely. That wasn't a problem before, because the photos were in numerical order but it is now.

Is there any way I can get my iPhone to label photos with consecutive numbers?
