Camera Roll - question

While connecting my phone to my mac to import a few photos I had just taken into Aperature I screwed up and did not 'uncheck all' and ended up importing (and removing) all the pictures from my camera roll.

I spent a while tring to figure out a way to undo this or copy the photos back, but other than creating a new album .. could not find a way to copy photos back to the camera roll 'folder'.

So I ended up just restoring to previous backup on the phone which restored the camera roll, which is fine .. but is there another way to do that ?
