Camera shutter sound

Has anyone been able to disable the iPhone camera shutter sound without jailbreaking?

Flip the switch to silent mode.

Thanks for the answer, I thought that the silent mode worked only for the ringer. Sometimes the most obvious escapes us.

As far as I know, that switch silences all sounds. There is an option in the Sounds part of Setup to allow or not vibrating when silent mode is selected.
