In iChat when I open the preferences pane, it says there is no camera attached to this computer (obviously not the case - MacBook Pro 1.83). Same thing when I open PhotoBooth. I have rebooted, run repair permissions, run MacJanitor and CacheOutX all with no effect. Was wondering if anyone has any ideas? How can I determine if it's a software problem or a hardware problem? Thanks for the help.

Easy. Try it in XP.

It could be the PSU. To reset it shut down the machine and turn it back on, but instead of releasing it, hold it down until the sleep light flashes quickly (your computer might also rev up its fans and make a loud noise). If that doesn't fix it, it's broken... do you have AppleCare?

thanks but that didn't work. Guess I'm going to have to take it in.

Have a look in the System Profile under the USB section. If it's there, it'll be listed, similarly if it's failed it'll probably be missing.
