Camera Stopped Working

My fiance's camera on her iPhone just stopped working the other day. When I click on the camera icon it comes up, but the viewing area is just black and nothing happens when I click the snapshot button. I can click to view the photo library, but that's it. I have a feeling I'm going to need to take it to Apple, but any ideas?
