Camera will not operate at all - MACBOOK

For some reason, whenever i need to use my camera, a message comes up saying "photo booth cannot open because camera is in use by another program" but i hav no other applications open at all... and when im on ichat, same story and same message.... how do i fix this?

Have you tried restarting?

I've had mine do that a couple of times and as the above poster suggested, a restart seemed to clear it up.

Restart.

If that doesn't work reset the PRAM.

If it still doesn't work take it to Apple.

This happened to me on a Rev A Macbook, but thankfully reseting the PRAM sorted everything out. Hope it works for you too.

I had the exact same message on my white Macbook and had to replace the video cable to fix it. While the cable is pretty inexpensive, hiring someone to replace it can get spendy. I was able to do it myself and you should be able to also.

Just go to www.ifixit.com, click on Guides then choose your computer and screen replacement or whichever selection corresponds to the video cable.
