Hi All.
Is it possible for a mac running 10.6 to see external drives that are plumbed into a mac running 10.4 across a network?

Please help!:)

yep, they are shared. I replaced a G4 with a new iMac running snow leopard onto a network that had all macs running 10.4. The 10.6 mac can only see the users folder.
I have tried everything & I work with Macs!
Is this a know problem?

Could you not upgrade the machine to Leopard? or perhaps set the drive as a SMB (Windows) share?

I did at one stage upgrade it to lepoard, but then I had major issues with panics & the mac not seeing some of the drives plugged into it.
I would prefer not to go the SMB route.
So I guess that this is a known issue, do I have any other options?

I use an iMac G4 running 10.4.11 as a server and I've never had any problems, the drives show in the main list after logging into it. Might there be additional protection on the drives and what type of drives are they (I've never had any problems with disks or HDDs, but that's where my experience with it ends, also)?
