iPhone X Can a cracked screen protector effect touch screen sensitivity?

I dropped my phone the other day, very lightly and it didn’t hit the floor it just fell a couple feet and bounced off of a plastic lined trash can but it cracked the screen protector. Since then I’ve noticed the touch screen has become much less responsive. I wouldn’t expect this to be an issue but the more I think about it it makes perfect sense.
