Problem solved.

Of course if it is 5.0x and not 5.08 you wont be able to downgrade.

If an iphone 3G or 3GS has been updated to official 3.1.3 it CANNOT be software unlocked period.

unless you are from the UK and can get it officially unlocked like meeeeeeeeee

Recap:

Since every other post in this thread is "how ?", here is the answer.

3.1.3 installs baseband 5.12.xx which cannot be unlocked (at this time) except if you have an early 3G, jailbreak your 3G, get Fuzzyband from Cydia and try it. It will either let you downgrade the baseband or not.

If it's a not, then there is no other way to unlock.
