Is there any possible way (by downgrading to whatever it takes) to jailbreak an iPhone purchased in September (comes with 4.0.2)?

A very sad no:(...I had to get a warranty replacement and mine was loaded with 4.0.2 so I'm stuck with it until there's a jailbreak. I saved my shsh for that and updated to 4.1 so just hang tight and hopefully soon we'll get our jailbreak! ;)

I didn't save any SHSH and went from 4.0.2 to 4.1.

I hope I am not boned.. I really have no desire to even use my iPhone 4 that I just spent $300 on yesterday.

I didn't think to back it up. I hope I didn't f myself for the potential 4.1 jb.

Your good no worries. I saved mine because it has become a habit..lol....you good for a 4.1 jb:D....Soon you will get in the habit of saving your shsh's too...lol

Now can only wait for the team to come out with 4.1 jailbreak.
Can't wait to upgrade to 4.1 for the game centre system! lol

No point in saving your 4.0.2 SHSH, just a habit for some.
Secondly, you can just go ahead and update to 4.1 right now from a 4.0.2 device if you dont care about unlocking. But if you do, you can use TinyU to save your baseband. (Iphone 4 ONLY)

How do you "save" your baseband with TU? If you upgrade to 4.1, it's gone, you can't get it back by downgrading the firmware.

the TU website has instructions and a link to a guide on how exactly to upgrade to 4.1 w/o the BB, I followed them and it worked just fine.

I guess this is a good place to point out that all of the 4.1 JBs out there are fake right now.

You should have saved your 4.1 shsh and upgraded while using TinyUmbrella to preserve your baseband. If you don't care about unlocking in the future this isn't a big deal but it also would have preserved some of the resale value of the device.

Good point.

I don't really care to unlock, but good advice for those who do.

Almost November.. hope it's soon! I'm dying to actually use my iPhone 4 as an emulator, it's been a $500 paperweight lately. A cracked 3G is getting more use!
