My apartment building has a gym and it's decent for an onsite facility especially since it's open 24 hours. The problem is that the music is very loud almost all the time. The overnight staff are supposed to turn the music down in the late evenings but very rarely does this happen. As a result, I have to turn up the volume on my Bose QC1 earphones, which already do good job with noise cancellation, but even that is not enough to completely drown out loud rap & hip hop at 4AM. Can the AirPods Max solve this problem?

And if I'm just lifting weights without sweating a lot, are the AirPods Max worth buying as gym headphones? Do they fall off if you lie down like when you're bench pressing?

I know that there's a new model coming with an H2 or later chip but I don't need advanced features, just great noise cancellation.

Thanks

The only issues I had while wearing the APM at the gym were that they do not breathe at all, so sweat started to stain the earpads and I also started to notice that there is some condensation between the earpads and earcups. They fit great, don't slip when on a bench, and noise cancellation is perfect. I used them for several months but eventually I ended up buying Beats Studio Pro's to wear in the gym because I replaced my ear pads, and didn't want to ruin my APM's.

I saw a review on YouTube and the person said that after every workout, he takes the magnetic ear cups off to eliminate the condensation problem.

I stopped wearing them at the gym for the following reasons:
  1. If you're doing any dynamic movements (cleans, hinges, kettlebell swings, etc) they're going to fall off
  2. They hold in sweat condensation like a mofo and not breathable
Use the APP2 instead for the gym.

I will not be doing any such exercises so I should be okay. I have the APP2 but I use them while commuting. I don't want to have to clean the APP2 too often. I strongly prefer dedicated gym headphones.

Noise cancelation only drowns out low frequency sounds, like air plane engine not other music.
I wear the AirPods Pro at basketball games in a very noisy environment. The background noise is higher frequency and it is muffled quite nicely. I wear the AirPods at football games as I am a sideline photographer. The noise cancelling is excellent, in high, middle, and low frequencies. Some football games border on possible hearing damage they are so loud.
