Hey everyone. I'm new to the forums and also a new mac user who is NEVER going back to PC again :).

I recently purchased an iMac and I also purchased a Pinnacle Video capture for the Mac. I am able to record video from camcorders, vhs, basically any input through video and audio component cables. My question however is how can I get something like an Xbox 360 to hook up to my Mac so I can play on the mac instead of the tv, essentially turning my mac into a display. Does anyone have a solution, possibly using my video capture device?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi and welcome. :)

You can do what you want with some video capture cards. The determining factor is whether the capture card can show video onscreen fast enough to play the game in real time, or whether there's an excessive lag to the display on the Mac.

I know that Elgato sells some EyeTV models that can do this (I think the 250 and Hybrid can do it). I don't know if your Pinnacle can or not, offhand.

Sometimes it's a combination of both the capture card and the software you use. My old pc had an ATI TV Tuner. With ATI's software there was a huge delay making it unplayable. However using third party software (I think CyberVCR) there was no delay. I could play sports games like NFL 2k5. This was the old Xbox though and of course it wasn't in HD.

I have the pinnacle card on my media PC, and there is no lag, so yes, but the picture may not be the best, and it may run a bit slower than mine. ( I have a quad 2.6, 4 GB 1066 RAM, etc.)
