Each year, Apple is making the Taptic Engine smaller and smaller. This year, they shrunk the ones in the 12 and the 12 pro, so I was wondering if anyone is feeling a difference over the years of miniaturization.
I haven't noticed too much of a difference, but I think they will surely hit a size limit one year because of the physical limitation.

No, no difference noticed here personally.

it should be pointed out that the size of the Taptic Engine alone isn’t always indicative of how much vibration you’ll feel. Placement of the engine against certain structural parts of the phone might increase the vibration that reverberates through the phone.

It is possible that Apple optimized placement of the engine to allow vibrations to carry through the phone with less effort from the engine, allowing them to scale its size down.

So I since the first Apple Watch in 2015 always sets my iPhone to complete silence (sound and vibrations). Every call, iMessage or notification only happens (silent) on my watch. Only time I hear my personal ringtones for contact would be when in CarPlay:)
