Im in NYC and T-Mobile has been a bit of a pain to deal with. Sometimes when I'm in the city I experience very slow data speeds due to congestion and recently went to the beach in Long Island and had no service whatsoever. I just kept thinking if there was an emergency I wouldn't be able to contact anyone due to not having any service whatsoever.

I currently pay $100 for two lines, but its really not worth it if my data speeds are slowed down immensely due to congestion *sometimes can't even send an iMessage* and have no service in certain areas. Ive had AT&T years ago and it was complete sh*t, so I don't think id go back to them.

I wonder if the 600 Mhz LTE 71 band will make a difference for you as TMO bought a ton of that spectrum and are rapidly deploying it, unfortunately you would need a new iPhone as this year's model will probably have it. If its that bad in your area you are probably better off leaving though.

Every carrier will be different, even from one block to another. The best advice is to find someone with Verizon, and have them test it at your house, work, etc. and see how it performs. Both T-Mobile and Verizon have areas of NYC where they get 200Mbps+ down, while other areas are under 1Mbps.

This is exactly right. Where I live Verizon has the best service, but that may not be the case in your area.

I have Verizon in NYC and have found it to be very reliable. I've never had T-mobile but I can say it was noticeably faster and more reliable than AT&T when I switched a year and half ago. My friend on T-mobile also says his service is spotty but he doesn't care that much.

I'm in NYC and Verizon coverage is excellent, at least it was when I had them on a work mobile. Though it suffers the same slow down as TMO during peak hours. I currently have T-Mobile and I love it. Their service here has improved tremendously so I haven't had any problems getting calls or texts out in a really long time. But I'm not sure what beach you went to outside the city in Long Island so perhaps you can provide that info for a more specific response.

I went upstate to go apple picking a few years ago and the only person who had coverage was the Sprint user. We had all the major carriers covered. This to say that you should pick the one that works in *most* of the areas you frequent as all carriers have dead spots.
