So I make wallets for a hobby of mine and have Google Alerts set up so anytime someone mentions it I can see what they said.

I got an alert this morning but cannot open the review/file.

I don't think this is a virus/spam since its on Wordpress (I could be wrong, be careful) but I can't open it.

Let me know if you can read it or how I can open it. I tried clicking the link and opening in iBook and nothing works.

Safe computing, I didn't try to open it....but have you tried on any desktop?

It's a mostly empty pdf with a link to a russian website (which I didn't go to)

That looks to be a .PDF file. iBooks, Kindle, or any other book app usually has the capability to open them.

I tried in iBooks but it's the same as what's on the link. I see that same user has a bunch of reviews and they're all the same format.

I'm not near a computer and won't be until later tonight. I see they mentioned something about the cash fitting differently since they're located outside the U.S. (in Google Preview) but I can't see anything else.

Can you send me the link? I'll open it in safe mode on my iPhone (since they can't get viruses, right).

Actually, now that I think about it, there is an exploit in older PDF files that link up to a botnet.

I wouldn't recommend ANYONE clicking on or attempting to open that file.

Thanks. But after seeing the post below I'm removing the link so no one clicks. I don't want anyone to mess their stuff up.

Can you please remove the link from your post?

I removed the file from my original post. I did open it in iBooks though like my iPhone recommended. Do you think I messed anything up?

There were no links when I visited the page. However, if your iPhone is not jailbroken, you didn't download a virus or hack, because none exist in the wild for unjailbroken iOS devices.

looks incredibly dodgy to me
That's why I posted it it in here. Glad to see its nothing.

Thanks for your response. My iPhone has never been jailbroken so I should be good.

So it doesn't even matter if I opened it in iBooks and then deleted t? That was my main concern since I opened it in another App.

Thanks

Whether you open it in a web browser or any app makes no difference. There are no viruses in the wild that can affect unjailbroken iOS.

Thanks, and maybe viruses is the wrong word. Any Malware or Botnets that could affect it?

I know nothing about Botnets but I've been doing some research to understand them better.

So if my iPad or iPhone are on 8.3 which they are and were never jailbroken I can't get anything dodgy on them?
